“I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.”
–Anne Frank
Writing is therapy to the broken heart. Words can mend when nothing else can.
Writing has always been the place where I can make sense of pain, confusion, and heartbreak. It has been my closest friend and clearest mirror. My hope is that you can find a connection within a page of one of my books and understand that you are not alone. Being human is hard, but with forgiveness, grace, and patience, there is always a light.
Romans 5:2-4 -
“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
Unfolding is a collection of images photographed from all over California, Colorado, and Wyoming, capturing the beauty of the fleeting moment. The poems that accompany them are inspired by the scenes captured in those images. There is a poem in this book that can resonate with anyone, touching on so many aspects of life: heartbreak, joy, and so much more.
Being Human is a meditation on the fragility of our lives. The book is sectioned into three chapters: Love, Loss, and Longing; Birth and Death; and Scars of Forgiveness. In these chapters, the author uses poetry to navigate the crisis that is our existential awareness. She uses a combination of fiction and honest inspiration from her own unique life story to capture the experience of being human.
